Scholarships

The Waters Foundation has been pleased to award 20 Individual Cross Country Scholarships to students at Brentsville High School since Spring 2003. We support our youth and their dreams for tomorrow. Established in 2002, The Waters Foundation scholarships are awarded to outstanding students who have participated on the Brentsville Cross Country team. College bound seniors who have exhibited dedication to the sport, personal growth through the principles taught by being part of the team, and have assumed leadership roles receive these scholarships.

The Cross Country Scholarships are a way to say thank you to Coach Rob Dulin and the BDHS Cross Country Team and to encourage and reward runners for their commitment and passion to this sport. Our daughter, Heather, participated on the team for numerous years. She benefited both emotionally and physically from the team's dedication and support, and she was thrilled to be a part of the team during its 7 years of winning the State's Cross Country Competition for Single A schools. (This was before the school became solely a High School and included 6th through 12th grade.) The lessons she learned stayed with her and steadied her throughout college and afterwards. Once a part of the team, always a part of the family. It is our hope that this commitment and dedication to running will continue through college and into a life long passion. Running is more than a team sport. It's a healthy way to live and enjoy life. It's something that can be shared with others or done alone. It exercises the body and heals the mind and soul. Where the challenge is your own and your previous record. From the youngest to the oldest, it can be shared and enjoyed for fun or for competition. In passion, ferocity and intensity, in joy, tranquility and calm, the exhilaration at the win, running can be many things.
